Hiya

assuming it is where the car has been

jacked up,you should see as you say a "bulge"

but i would look closer for any cracks or other damage.

or it could be caused by excessive unessasary mileage!!!! lol

thanks for that biscuit....will have a gander in a sec..

managd to get the door card off the drivers side...i managed to do it without breaking any yellow clips!!..i loosened off the outer side..then with a bit of force..i lifted the door card off the other clips!!..sooo..technically..you can slide the door card up and off..but carefully.!!

speaker seems securely fitted...so i cant understand why its rattling...

one diff to this door and the rear passenger side door..is that the drivers door has a foamy grey panel on it..moisture guard is it?

5 vapour barrier, with out it, it's possible for any water that makes it past the glass/door seal to enter the car via the door card! ruining the door in the process! make sure the drain holes in the bottom of the door are clear?

MO4 - the trick is to get them all out of the door and put them in the door card before replacing it. you then snap them back in with a small thump with the heel of your hand - or the side of a clenched fist.

As for the 'Bulge... compare it to the other side of the car - should be a mirror image apart from pipework etc

seriously need help here peeps...when useing the inner door lock...the drivers side one clicks..can hear the motor..all other ones lock then unlock themselves.....

HELP!!

have checked wiring..all seems ok..everything looks ok...havent looked behind that grey stuff though..

have you disturbed touched the cable release from the catch to the lock ??
Posted
the inner handle drivers side is stuck half way in..so its neither flush with the door as in when you shut the door..nor is it in..as when you use the inner lock...im foobed at the mo..i have looked behind the grey stuff and can see nothing amiss....
Posted
guessing based on other cars - usually a black 4/5 mm diameter cable running from the door lever (operates the door from the inside) and the locking mechanism - its mechanical like the cables that operate bicycle brakes with a thin stell wire sliding inside it..
Posted
are you saying the lever is not in the correct position or that the surround (which holds the lever) hasn't gone back flush with he door card
Posted

ok I'm a post behind here all the time

with the door card off and the handle free does the lever return to its normal position?? --

Posted
no..the handle wont go flush..even with door card on and everything connected.....it keeps clicking.....but all other doors lock then unlock themselves...
Posted
but what happens with the door card off? if the handle in question is sticking half way? the central locking ECU is getting conflicting info and will not lock the other doors! as it thinks you want to open the drivers doors which in turn sends a signal to say open all other doors you could be there all day trying to lock the doors! remove the door card and see what happens? if the handel moves freely then its not located/lined up correctly or the locking mech in that door has jammed? or the loom is shorting out?

fixed...gawd what a nightmare......managed to see the cable you were on about nik in the little black bit,,with door card off..it moved freely..no idea what i did..but i fixed it...the cable wasnt moving very much........i followed the cable with my fingers..fiddled a bit..i heard a click...put it all back together, then it was fine..no idea....thanks to you all for your help..very much appreciated...

as for under the car..will look tomorrow....i thought i was doing the easiest job first..how wrong could i have been....i did take sum pics....but i really need to warm up.lol..

the external part of the cable was probably caught up on its housing - fiddling allowed it to slip back so releasing the tension on the inner wire and lever

Thanks nik..never want to go through this again!!

had problems getting the middle screw in its hole so i used a piece of sellotape doubled over and stuck that on the top of the screw then pushed the screwdriver into it so it would stick.then i got it in ok.

I've got one on passenger side, bit worried, is this from misuse of trolley jacks? There is no corresponding dent in the box frame underneath the car, but its in the right place for where I position the jack.

Hello ,

My 1996 Galaxy has a similar problem on the driver side .

The 'jacking' explanation is clear non-sense . If you look underneath the chassis it soon becomes clear that it is simply impossible - because of the huge box sections of the chassis .

I think that the bulging is due to rusting between the box section of the chassis and the sheet metal floor . The rust expand the metal etc...

I don't think it is particularly serious - given the substantial size of the chassis box section - but then I could be completely wrong :-)
